The Gordon College Orvieto, Italy Semester
The Gordon College semester in Orvieto, Italy is an experiemental approach to learning in the landscape of our comtemporary "post-culture." Our challenge is to be pioneers amidst the ruins of Western Civilization.
The Orvieto program is designed to provide comtemporary American students with a vivid experience of tradition in art, spirituality and worship, and civic life, and to inspire young artists of Christian faith to re-connect with the religious artistic traditions of the past to enable them to respond creatively to the past in order to shape a human future in art and culture.
The pace of life in Orvieto, Italy is set to a distinctively slower and simpler rhythm than contemporary American life. While living in an active learning and creative environment, students share meals, engage in serious conversation, experience the traditional liturgies of religious life and civic celebrations, and trade in the automobile for the foot.
While the Orvieto Semester is clearly art-intensive, it is not restricted to students majoring in art. To apply, or to obtain more information, visit our website, www.gordon.edu/geo/orvieto, and click on "How to Apply", or contact the Gordon College External Education Office.
Now accepting applications for for Spring and Fall 2006 semesters.
