Light and shadow: the two thin s required to create a photographic image. Both are essential to the process and without one, the other cannot create an image. These two contrasting elements reflect the process God evoked when HE separated the light from the dark in the very beginning of creation.
In my Shadowmaster series, the use of light to create shadow, reflects the shape of man, the crowning act of creation. Each of us contains an element of mystery, the implied but not fully human form interacts with a light source, and it either reflects or absorbs the energy emitted from the source. Sometimes our reaction to light creates shadows that have amazing likenesses of the original subject or we can create very abstract forms that are unfamiliar and even bearing very little likeness to the human form. Other objects can bend or modulate the shadow! image as well.
As we respond to the Creator’s light, we have the choice to reflect, absorb, or totally change the source of the vision that is cast upon us. God has given us gifts and abilities and then the individual freedom to respond to His light.
